Living in Ethiopia over the past 9 months has completely opened my eyes and heart to a culture I never knew existed having grown up in suburban Louisiana. I’ve had the opportunity to write for an organization called CURE international that provides free operations for children with disabilities. I’ve met families from all different walks [...]
This morning as I drove my daughters to school Savannah (my middle schooler) brought up the discussion of genetics. She was primping herself in the visor mirror and pondering “What will I look like when I grow up?” NOTE : THIS IS HOW YOUR CHILD BRINGS UP IMPORTANT ADOPTION CONVERSATIONS SO BE AWARE OF THEM [...]
ADOPTIVE DAD. An acronym describing the job of being an adoptive dad. These are my thoughts but I’m no recruiter. Welcome to the blogosphere! I’m excited to read more about your experiences.
Thank you Lisa. We’re really enjoying writing down all of our stories from the last 12 years. And more to come.
My husband and I have wanted to adopt for years. We even got certified as foster parents, but never received any placements
We look forward to learning more about the process. It feels like there is so little accurate info out there!
Did you use a private foster agency? I’ve heard of a lot of people not getting placements when going that route. My advice is to get licensed through the state. (DCFS) ALL kids must first go through the state and then are moved to private agencies. I’d be happy to answer any more questions if you have any. Hope this helps.
